Weigh In

Yeap, its that time of the week again and to be honest I wasn't too sure what to expect this evening but according to the scales at home I had stayed the same... and for once the scales at Barbaras said the same thing... so yeap am pleased with that. I may have been able to scrap in with a loss but our GM shouted us some biscuits for morning tea... oh boy those mini chocolate girl guide biscuits are delicious!!! YUM YUM! :)

The other news of the day is that I got a very unexpected phonecall this morning from the Antenatal clinic at Hutt Hospital wanting to see me this afternoon after receiving a letter from my GP outlining my history. I initally saw a midwife there who had a chat with me and took my particulars and then saw a Specialist (who is supposed to be one of the best) - it was the same one that had performed my D&C last year. Apart from the fact that he is Indian and hard to understand at times he was a lovely guy. Bascially their main concern for me is going to be the diabetes as Mum has got it (and her mum had it as well) and Dad also had it. Their inital plan of attack providing all is ok is to keep an eye on me until 20 weeks. I have had a huge amount of bloods done today (10 tubes) and it took 2 of them about 1/2hr to do them as my vains were not being overly co-operative (but then they never are). I am now covered in wee bandages and tape with the one on my wrist hurting the most. So basically I have to start watching my diet very carefully and keep weight gain to a minimum (phew thank god I stayed the same this week). If anything shows up in the bloods - I will probably start taking the "asprin a day" to keep the clotting away and probably visit them every couple of weeks. But if the diabetes shows up already then I got the impression I would be there having scans every 2 weeks to monitor my precious bub. The one thing I was worried about was the fact that they have told me not to bother getting my bloods done on Saturday for HCG etc... so when I got home I rung my MW and she has said the same thing bascially - just gotta relax and take things easy and if its not meant to be then theres nothing we can do about it... so just gotta take one day at a time and see what happens. Hopefuly I have understood everything correctly as like I said he was hard to understand... and I go back there in 4 weeks time to get the results of the tests (they take about 3 weeks to come through).

Right time to go organise dinner... catch ya all later

Comments:
Wow, 10 tubes is a lot of blood - have everything crossed for you, but am positive everything will be absolutely fine.

Well done on your maintenance this week - have been avoiding GG biscuits as I know how addictive they are, lol.

Take care and sending positive vibes ;):)

Cheers Jaxx

You must be like a pin cushion but really does sounds as if you are in good hands! And it's great that you have started this pregnancy with the weight loss you have achieved and healthier eating - must all help with the diabetes concern.

Don't know if it will help for future blood tests - they always have trouble getting it out of me and it takes forever to get it and then someone suggested a hot drink just before - and it worked?

thats great that they are keeping a nice close eye on you, you will have a fantastic record of this pregnancy hun! and remember, no lifting!!! :) oweys at the bloods though.. im not good with them!

It sounds like you have got a great support there in the midwife and the GP. Just relax and take care of yourself and your diet hun as you want to keep yourself healthy.

It will happen this time.

Love ya

Just popping in with a ~quick hug~

Great to hear you are being well looked after; despite them trying to turn you into a pin cushion! ~ouch~

Take thinks easy, young lady!

I'm very impressed that the health system is so onto it - and that must be very reassuring for you too! Have a great weekend.

Lol, I missed my txt yesterday! Someone txted me at around the same time you usually do, and I thought "Karen!", but it wasn't. Lol!

It sounds like you are in good hands and I'm sure it's gonna help get that gorgeous bub into your arms safely. xx

Karen, the best thing you have ever done for this baby is to lose all the weight you have. You are giving this baby the best start and a small gain here or there isn't going to destroy that. I think it's so amazing to think you'll have lost weight to gain a baby - so beautiful! good luck with this week :)

Fingers crossed for today - hope all goes well :):)

well take of your self after all that blood!!
