Another Monday

Well another Monday over and only 4 more days till the weekend! LOL

Yeap another hectic day at the office - did contemplate ringing in sick as I had a real crappy nights sleep but as always my conscience got the better of me and I went in and actually acheived quite a bit too!

Food today - pretty damn good - well up until tonight that is. We had pork chops and I have gotten in to the habit of cutting of the fatty parts before it is cooked so I am not tempted by it once it is cooked but as Steph cooked tonight that part wasn't done so of course as it was on my plate it got eaten! Oooops but hey at least I restrained myself from eating Steph's as well like I sometimes do!!! Water today - hmmm about 2.5 litres I think so am ok with that.

Exercise - despite being tired and grumpy on the train tonight and not wanting to go to the gym at all - I did go and had a great session there. Am doing some thinking to see if I could go in the mornings once we move into our new place as it is a lot closer to the gym (1.1kms - measured it this evening) so could perhaps get to the gym by about 6am on Monday and Wednesday (I am a key holder), home and shower and catch the train about 8ish and then just work a bit later on those days. Might give that a shot and see how I go.

Update on the house - nothing new to report from the weekend updates. I know the valuation was being done this morning so we should hear back from him tomorrow some time... I emailed the builders report to our agent noting the gully trap problem that the inspector had picked up and have had confirmation that it will be fixed prior to us moving in which is great.

Meant to say in my weekend updates that this weekend just gone was also a hard one emotionally as it was our second angels due date and I know so many people that are having babies at the moment so was quite a hard one but I know by keeping busy it kept me from getting too emotional.

It was also a very quiet weekend blogging wise and comments wise but I guess with summer drawing to a close most of us were making the most of beautiful weather...

Right time to get moving - want to watch the rest of Mitre 10 dream home. Getting lots of ideas for our house now! LOL Just a pity we don't have the budget they do!

Catch ya all later... oh probably won't update tomorrow as it is Steph's fathers birthday and we are all having dinner around at his brothers place so will probably be a latish night.

Another weekend almost finished...

Hi ya

Well another great day today both weather wise and exercise wise :)

Woke this morning just before 8am so promptly got up, did a bike ride again - managed about 4.5kms this morning and 1/2 of that was a slow steady uphill ride with of course the second 1/2 being a nice cruisey ride down to home again but the uphill bit sure got my quads working real hard. Didn't quite make my target of where I wanted to get to but I almost got there and know I will get there one day soon. So all up I have biked 10 kms this weekend so am really pleased with that. No sore butt at all - ok a bit sore when I first got on again this morning but that soon disappeared so yay for ladies gel seats! :) And yay for gloves as well - makes holding the handle bars so much easier.

And then this evening, I decided I was gonna do a walk as well so did a quick change of clothes, and did a brisk 5km walk (same route as the bike ride this morning). Normally I do my walking either first thing in the morning or I will have an earlish tea and walk about 7.30/8.00pm but I had this urge to walk so I did despite it being 5.15pm and boy it sure was still quite hot then! Had started sweating when I was about 1km into walking but kept on going of course.

So between those two exercise times, I have done some more washing - I can never believe the amount of washing just the two of us create but I guess with both of us gyming, and me biking as well that is a lot of changes of clothes etc! I have cleaned up Charlie for the week and then we went up to our new house (well almost ours) as we thought there was an open home there since the offer was not unconditonal as yet so we had organised to meet Steph's parents there but it was not to be. The agent was there (our agents fiance) at the next door place which is the only one left not sold - shit word has gotten out about us already! LOL Nah it is the one that needs the most work doing to it apparently! :) But we went and spoke to the agent and he went next door and asked the tenants if they minded us going through again and they were very nice and said no problems at all. So had another look through though once again cause they were there it was awkward to look in cupboards etc... But it was nice to see it again and Steph's parents were able to have a look too.

Had a lovely homemade chicken and salad sandwich for lunch today and then after a bit of blobbing we decided that we felt like playing a game of mini golf. So got in the car, popped around to Steph's sisters place, asked if the kids wanted to come with us which they did, so off we went to explore a minigolf park in Porirua called Pirates Cove! Boy it sure was so much fun and I won my first ever game of mini golf! Believe me I normally suck at this game and only play it cause I have so much fun! But after 2 hole in ones I really got the hang of it! I wanted to play another round! Offically the boys did beat us girls but as an individual I won!!! We then stopped at North City Plaza to treat the kids to an ice cream/milkshake from Wendy's and then dropped them back home. But we sure will be going back there again. Janine - I did think of popping around to see you and Simon but as we had the kids with us they would have gotten restless etc...

Have had a lovely steak, potatoes and salad for tea... gotta water the pots on the deck, get my gym gear ready for tomorrow. Oh speaking of gyms - with the purchasing of the house I won't be able to swap gyms due to the $$$$$ so will be sticking with Robyn for the time being. I might even up to stop it altogether depending on our budgeting etc but will play that by ear.

Right time to get moving - catch ya all later. Oh hi to Ang and Kris - two new readers of my blog. Welcome and I certainly don't mind you reading at all :)

So far so good

Hi all

Yeap so far so good with both the house and my duathlon training :)

Got the builders report yesterday - all ok considering the age of the place (approx 55 yrs old) - just one thing that we are going to mention to the agent on Monday morning (or at the open home tomorrow) and hopefully that will be fixed for us prior to settlement. The valuation is being done on Monday morning so fingers crossed that comes up to scratch... then if so its all done and the place is ours :)

Steph's family are so excited for us and getting into it all and his parents are coming to the open home with us tomorrow morning... but my family is another story really. I think deep down my mum and sister are pleased for us (not emailing my brothers until it goes unconditional) but I think they are worried about the financical committment we are going to have! Might have to have a chat with them at some stage as we would not have been lent the money if we were not able to afford the repayments. Okay yes we do want a child or two and yes I will be going back to work but hey thats our situation and one that only we can make decisions about... but my sister sure does like to put her two cents in about that side of things every time we speak.

Work yesterday was flaming awful - felt like I acheived sweet bugger all and was getting quite frustrated at times.

This morning, I got up just after 7am and jumped on the bike and went for a 5.4km bike ride (from home to the Silverstream rail bridge and back again) - took me 22 mins so despite being quite happy with that I know I need to build up my speed otherwise it will take me forever at the duathlon. Got off the bike, and went straight out for a walk (helmet hair and all) - only did about 1 km but wanted to keep my legs moving. It really is nice out there at that time of the day.

Have done all the usual Saturday stuff (washing, housework etc), also have had a borrer bomb through the house so had to keep out for about 3 hrs so visited Steph's parents, dropped off Jo's radio prize that I collected for her a few days ago, had a kebab on the riverbank for lunch, did the groceries and now am home again.

We have Lynaire and Kev and Kev's daughter coming for tea tonight so that will be great to catch up with them. Have decided to have a BBQ since it is such a nice day so have to pop up to the supermarket and get some more meat and do a stop at the bottle store to get some drinks too.

Right time I was outta here - gotta make a salad yet and do some other bits and pieces.... Hope you are all having a good weekend - catch ya all later.

Weigh In

Yeap that time of the week again folks... and yes I am able to report in with some good news. Managed to record a loss of 600gms taking my overall loss now to 40.9 kilos and my weight to 88.3 kilos. Am only 500gms away from being in virgin fat territory again so lets see if I can get there next week. Lowest weight on this journey of 87.9 kilos was reached just prior to Christmas and I can do this! Didn't have too much of a chat today with Barbara as someone else arrived to weigh in just as I was getting on the scales but did manage to share my house news with her! LOL

Speaking of the house - boy I sure had forgotten how time consuming and stressful organising a builder and valuer can be!!! Felt really bad with the number of calls I had to make today but my boss has been brilliant and says that he understands and is so excited for us which is great news really. Oh - settlement is now not till 21st April which is just over 7 weeks away so no hurry there either but Sue I will be in touch re your offer about boxes :)

Food today - really good - another day with lots of grapes but they are all gone now! Water - about 2 litres so average I guess.

Exercise - hmmm thats right I was gonna go out on the bike this evening - well not long had dinner so think I may head out about 8ish since I am only gone for about 15mins so that should be ok light wise.

Well another busy day tomorrow at work since L has the day off.... right time for me to get moving as Shorties is still on but thought I would finish this as I started it about 1/2hr ago!

Catch ya all later

PS I made it out on the bike - did a slightly longer route than I did with Helena on Sunday. Think it must be about 3.5 kms roughly. Feel great for doing it and it took me about 15mins.

They said yes...

The offer has been accepted and the bank has said yes!!!! OMG - that means that we are going to be home owners in approx 6 weeks time!!!! Okay we still have to get the valuation and builders report etc... but at this stage we can see no problems with either of them (fingers crossed)!

Work today has been pretty full on - usual payday stuff - doing all the filing, posting out payslips etc... but between work and phone calls about the house the day did fly by!

Food today - really good. One of the ladies at work was selling fresh organic grapes! OMG they were so delicious - I just couldn't stop eating them all day so hopefully that doesn't affect my weigh in too much tomorrow. Guess we will wait and see.... Water today - very slack indeed. Don't know why but just didn't feel like drinking!

Exercise - a great work out at the gym today. It was pretty full there today so had to do some changes in the order I do my cardio and boy it sure threw me and doing the rower first up really got me working real hard!

Right off to make some phone calls etc to my mum about the house... catch ya all tomorrow night after weigh in.

Still got those fingers crossed...

Hi ya

Well last night with the Mortgage Broker went really well - awesome guy - great sense of humour too! But all that aside - he thinks we should get the loan with flying colours.... and we thought we may have had an answer late today but not as yet so we should hear something tomorrow.

We did check out two of the houses this evening and have put an offer in on one of them! 3 bedroom place, separate toilet (about bloody time I say) with a fully fenced section (all were fully fenced) and a double carport. Yes it does need a bit of painting (inside and out). The three houses that have already been sold have gone to "youngish" couples so it looks like it will be a wonderful young cul-de-sac so to speak. The other one we looked at was a 4 bedroom place but boy there was so much that needed doing to it - perhaps not straight away in some peoples eyes but I am quite fussy in some areas and if we had gone for that one I would have wanted so much done to it before moving in and we wouldn't have been able to afford to do any of that! So yes the offer has gone in subject to finance, a builders report etc... so will keep you all posted. As the house is currently tenanted, they have to give the tenants at least 6 weeks notice so that is all fine with me - though I can see settlement being Easter weekend (7 1/2 weeks away) which would make it a hectic weekend as that is also when I am doing my duathlon but hey whats a bit of excitement - nothing we can't handle! LOL

Work today - not too bad really. Full on but the pay has been run and everyone is getting paid (I hope) tonight so back to starting the next fortnightly cycle in the morning! No rest for the wicked!

Food today - well I forgot my yoghurt that I normally have for morning tea, and was ravishing (almost fading away - yeah right) so had an afghan from the snack box. Better than the chippies and chocolate bars I guess but still not the best of choices. But apart from that - food has been wonderful. Water today - about 2 litres so yeah am ok with that.

Exercise - well I was planning on going out on my bike this evening to do the circut that Helena wants me to do as part of my training but Judes Mum rung me about 7.30pm for a chat and I have only just gotten off the phone to her (8.15pm) and it is quite dark out there already. This is a valid reason for not biking as I do not have lights or reflective gear so thats out of the question! BUGGER!! And yes I am disappointed as I had started looking forward to it and trying out my new gloves that I got at the weekend. Oh well tomorrow is a gym day so perhaps I will get out on the bike on Thursday...

Right best I get moving - not a lot to do this evening but don't want to bore you all too much with the house. Once the offer is accepted etc I will post a photo of the outside of the house.

Cheers and catch ya all later

Very quickly

Hi all

Yes this will be quick as we have a mortgage broker coming around at 8.30pm to discuss some options for us as we have seen some properties put up for sale in Trentham that are available for no deposit required (with special conditions which we pass) so we are seeing the broker tonight and then viewing two of the houses tomorrow evening so we do have our fingers crossed. It is a special deal through the particular Real Estate Company and the Mortgage Broker so hopefully by about Wednesday we will know what is happening one way or another. We do have a bit of a deposit saved as well so having that there should definitely help us and could perhaps go to lawyer fees and some paint etc...

Work today was another diablocial day (and I changed jobs for less stress - yeah right - not happening at the moment). I probably should have worked late but put myself first and went to the gym.

Food today - bloody disgusting but at least all the junk food that was in my drawer is all gone now - but not in the bin - but to my tum! But tomorrow is another day and I am feeling a lot more focused so lets see if that continues. Water today - about 2.5 litres so am ok with that.

Exercise - as mentioned earlier I did make the gym and had a great workout there. Still procrastinating about whether to switch gyms or not but won't go into that now as I haven't got time.

Right catch ya all tomorrow at some stage after we have viewed the houses.

See ya :)

Blissful Sunday Afternoon

Hi all

Yeap it's Sunday afternoon already and the sun is shining and it is so lovely!

Going back to Saturday (oh yeah that was yesterday) - got up early and went to my "normal" gym and had a great session there. Still doing thinking about whether to change gyms or not... but like Helena has said there is no hurry really so I guess I will procrasinate about it a bit longer! LOL But am impressed with myself as that means I have had 4 gym sessions this week (Tues/Wed and Fri/Sat) so yay for me! LOL

Once home from the gym and I had showered, done some loads of washing etc, we shot up to Upper Hutt and got me my new ladies bike seat and a helmet thats all mine!!! LOL Decided whilst we were out and about to go do the groceries so went down to Lower Hutt and did those, detoured to Animates on the way home to get some things for Charlie. Home, lunch and housework... no rest for the wicked! LOL Then it was off to the Tote (pub in Trentham) to meet some friends from work - I only stayed for a couple of hours and left the others there so goodness knows what time they left... Had some lovely chicken rissoles and salad for tea and a quiet night with my darling.

This morning against my will, my body got up and dressed and went cycling with Helena! I had more or less told her that I wouldn't be going at 7.30am this morning as I wanted to sleep in but guess what I was wide awake and starting to feel guilty so I txt her... and she was at my place just after 7.30am (took her 15 mins to get from her place to mine on her bike). We then did about 2kms on the bike and boy it made a huge difference having a ladies seat thats for sure! LOL Once back home, off came the helmets and we hit the road doing a 3km walk... so that was a wonderful start to the day really as it was so lovely and peaceful at that time of the day. Showered, breakfast and then decided to go to Lower Hutt to check out the Warehouse at Westfield (hadn't been to that one as yet) - scored myself some awesome bike gloves (geninue leather) for only $14.25, a lovely black cammi for $12 and then some belated birthday presents too for some of Steph's family. As I came out of the Warehouse I saw the Sara/Ezibuy shop and thought what the hell - and down the back in the corner they had all their summer stock hugely reduced so managed to score 2 t-shirts for $9 each and a singlet top for $7.50 so can't complain about those bargins!

We are about to head off shortly to drop off the birthday presents that I bought this morning before heading to Steph's parents place for a BBQ tea so that will be nice.

But before I head off I will share my latest bit of good news with you all - Steph took my measurements yesterday morning and they are as follows:

Chest 124 - 118 - 113.5
Waist 130 - 99 - 97
Hips 143 - 130 - 124
Butt 143 - 133 - 120
Thigh 67 - 63 - 60
Arm 38 - 33 - 31.5
Calves 44 - 40.5 - 39

So total loss since joining the gym in Oct 04 = 104cms!!! So goodness knows what my total loss in measurements would be if I had taken them back in Feb 03 when I started this journey! The first ones were taken in Oct 04, then the next lot were about Aug/Sept 05 and then obviously the latest lot taken yesterday. I must remember to do them more often.

Right I better get going - catch ya all later. Hope you all have a good week.

I did it...

I went to a "big" gym this morning!!!

Yes the alarm went off at 5.22AM and I was thinking OMG its still the middle of the night - what the hell am I doing getting up... but I got up, threw on my gym clothes and toodled off to the train station - hmmm definitley not many cars on the road at that hour and only a couple of cars at the train station but I still parked in my "normal" car park despite having the choice of about 30 odd more a lot closer to the platform!

Train pulled up and yeap there was Helena all smiles and ready and rearing to go - and I am sitting there muttering under my breath about it being the middle of the night and what an ungodly hour this was! But I was there and that was the main thing...

Anyway, once there, I was like wow this is amazing!!! LOL Like a kid in a new playground really! LOL Firstly Helena got me going on the bike and I even did 10 mins on that (whereas at my regular gym I struggle to do 7mins at times) then I did my usual exercises, then Helena got me going on the treadmill, then more of my regular exercises, then OMH Helena had me on that awful machine we can all recall her going on about - that machine called the "Arc Trainer"!!! Still in shock that I managed to do 7 mins on it! Almost killed me (or it felt that way anyway) but I did it!!! Then after doing some more of my regular exercises, Helena had finished so damn shame I didn't get to do the rower! LOL The showers there are awesome, the people are friendly and I really did enjoy myself. So I guess I am 80% sure that I will be switching gyms and will be joining Helena on that early train 3 mornings a week! Just gotta do some more thinking over the weekend so will keep ya all posted!

Work today - fucking diabolical!!! Excuse the language but that is the only way to describe it really! L was away sick, the temp started, and we had 22 Final Pays to be processed today! So I spent more or less the whole day processing final pays!!! Had enough of those to last me a lifetime! I did manage to escape for lunch so me and a couple of others went to the pub and had a toast to Jude as it is 1mth since she passed away.

Food today - not too bad I guess. Fish burger at the pub and then pizza for tea. Water - pretty good - about 2.5 litres so am pleased with that. Exercise - well you already know all about that.

You will all be pleased to know that I had some "me" time tonight!!! Talked Steph into letting me have an hour and half full body massage with my aroamtherapist! Combination of a birthday and Valentines Day present... hehehe Absoulte bliss!!! Just what the "dr" ordered! Just wish I could afford them more frequently!

Not a lot planned for the weekend... meeting some friends tomorrow afternoon for a drink or two. Ohhhh just the usual housework to do and the washing etc as well. Going to get my ladies bike seat and also a helmet (rather than wearing Stephs) tomorrow morning at some stage so that will be cool and I will aim to get out on it as often as possible even if only for short periods of time!

Right it is now 9.25pm and I have been yakking on the phone for the last 40 mins so best I get this published and hit the sack as I am shattered! And got the gym in the morning... might be my last visit there too!

Night all - hope you all have a great weekend.

Weigh In

Hi all

Well to be honest with you all - once again I was very close to skipping weigh in as the scales at home showed about a 500gm gain and I just did not want to have that registered offically... but once again I did end up going (thanks Jude for being my conscience) and am pleased to be able to say that I recorded a loss! Yes a loss - albiet a small loss but as we all know a loss is a loss which is better than a gain. Oh the loss was 200gms taking my total loss now to 40.3 kilos! So yes I am pretty happy with that so will take that and run.

Work today - not too bad really. We have the new temp starting tomorrow so that will be great for both L and I and our ever increasing workloads!

Food today - probably the best all week so am pleased with my effort there :) Water today - only about 2 litres so not as good as I can do but still a fairly good effort. Exercise - just the usual of walking to and from the station along with Plimmer Steps. Though Helena has suggested we could go walking this evening when she comes visiting but as I am crazy enough to be getting up at some ungodly hour tomorrow morning to meet her on the train to check out "Habit"; I thought that we could just sit and chat this evening rather than walking! LOL The sun is shining so we can sit on the deck and have an OJ or coffee or whatever and yak away.

Oh had some great news this morning - an internet friend of mine (whom I have spoken to a few times and we txt each other all the time) from the forum that I belong to found out she was pregnant today! I am so excited for her - its just a shame that she lives in Dunedin! She suffered a miscarriage a couple of weeks after I had my first one and she has had a whole year of trying to get pregnant again and was contemplating visiting her Dr next mth if nothing had happened! So I have all my fingers and toes crossed for her that everything goes smoothly for her for the next 8mths or so.

Also today, I got a disk in the mail from Judes brother with the powerpoint presentation on it that was shown at her funeral. So Steph and I have watched it already and shed a few tears... Have to take it into work to show some people who weren't able to make it to the funeral and no doubt there will be people wanting copies of it so might see if work will give me the disks to do it since its "semi" work related! But at least I have it now and I will be able to view it any time I want do!

Right time I got my arse moving and organise dinner since Helena will be here in just over an hours time.... catch ya all later.

Another good day

Hi ya

Yeap have had another great day today... well apart from this blimen headache that keeps coming and going. Though at work today L gave me the most amazing 10 min neck/shoulder rub and it was total bliss! :) I could have sat through that all day long! LOL Have managed only to take one lot of Panadol today which is good for me as I am usually a big Nurofen taker but since all the stuff on TV etc about Ibuprofen (the main ingredient of Nurofen) causing a higher risk of miscarriages etc in women who take it reguarly I have more or less stopped taking it unless it is dire!

Work today was good - we appointed a temp in Jude's role today and she starts on Friday. She is an older woman and has lots of payroll systems experience so that is a great start so all she has to do is learn our policies etc... We are sure she will fit in to the team ok so fingers crossed!

Food today - probably not the best of lunches - a delicious smoothie as well as a sweet chilli chicken panini - both by the way were absoutley delicious! Had the first lot of lamb chops tonight for tea - a wee bit fatty but oh so scrumptious!!! Water today - about 2.5 litres so am ok with that intake.

Exercise - didn't do Plimmer Steps this morning as I was walking up with one of the guys from downstairs and he is an older guy who doesn't do the steps so I decided to be polite and keep our conversation going and go up the escalators with him. Though after receiving an "SOS" email from Jo I decided to throw on my walking shoes at lunch time and walk up to More FM radio station to pick up her prize that she won this morning. So that was about a 15 min walk each way plus I took the long way back so all up about a 40 min walk which was really nice. Then of course since it is Wednesday - I have been to the gym and had a great work out there - scary to say but I THINK I may be slowly rediscovering my lost motivation... lets hope it lasts!

At this stage I am meeting Helena on the 5.38 train on Friday morning (yes 5.38AM) and will head to her gym with her to check it out and have a work out with her - could prove very interesting indeed. Am hoping that I don't interupt her too much with my questions etc as I have never been in a "big" gym before! LOL So if I do that I won't need to go on Saturday morning and can spend the weekend deciding if I am going to change gyms. Also gotta look at the $$$ as this new one is more expensive but when I look at the running costs of my car and the time I spend each week getting to my current one it could work out about the same. But will keep you posted on that.

Right time I was outta here - will catch ya tomorrow sometime after weigh in though I do have Helena popping in about 7.30pm to chat about bike training for the Duathlon etc... but should be able to do a quick update prior to her arriving.

Night all

A quickie

Hi all

Well its gone 9.30pm and I am shattered so I will try to make this a quickie.

Had a crap nights sleep last night (probably to do with the fact that I had slept for 90 odd mins after coming home early yesterday afternoon) - think it was almost midnight before I fell asleep and boy I was getting so angry with myself which I know doesn't help matters...

But over all I feel a lot better today which is great... had a good day at work and seem to be almost on top of things at the moment so that is great. Met a friend for lunch today - boy she is having some problems but it was great for her to be able to get things off her chest so I just sat there and listened... always been told I am a great listener and I think I am too. Might not give great advice at times but if you just want to talk then its my ears you want! LOL

Food today has been pretty good. A few snifters found their way into my mouth late this afternoon but apart from that - all ok. Was tempted by some real nice yummy things at lunch time but felt I made a good choice - a chicken and salad wrap. Water today - about 2.5 litres so am pleased with that.

Exercise - well I even surprised myself here... My normal gym days are Monday and Wednesday's... well today as I was about to walk out the door I found myself calling Robyn and asking if there was a space for me to come today and yeap there was... so I went to the gym and had one of the best workouts I have had this year! I enjoyed it and felt really pumped. Have changed a couple of my cardio things around so do the bike, then weights, then the crosstrainer then the rest of my programme and find myself really going with that now... I used to do the crosstrainer as soon as I walked in the door and had been beginning to struggle with that. Told Robyn about the Duathlon and she is so proud of me and really going to support me too!

Have just finished dividing up a whole lamb that I got through one of the girls that I used to work with. For $100 we got a whole lamb so went halves with one of Steph's sisters so have been at her place dividing it up. We worked out that we paid $4 per kilo for all the lamb we have got! Definitely enough to keep us in lamb supply for about 3/4mths I would say including a huge roast! YUM! My mouth is drawling just at the thought of that - think we might invite my mum and family over when we cook that since it is so big! :)

Right - this has been longer than I anticpated... need to hit the sack to get some beauty sleep. Catch ya all later.

Not off to a good start

Hi all

Well not off to the best of starts for my training for the Duathlon - as I never got to the gym as I got sent home from work mid afternoon with a thumper of a headache! Came home and slept for about 90 odd mins... had some dinner (which in hindsight I didn't really feel like) and am now just blobbing out. Am feeling a bit better (if not a bit dazed/dizzy so to speak) so no point in beating myself up about not getting any exercise. Best I come right and then get stuck into it. Must remember to print off the 8 week training programme from the Duathlon website so I can get stuck into that. Mental note - I must learn how to weblinks in blogspot - yeah yeah one day!

But I do want to say a big thank you to you all for you support and encouraging words once I registered for this big day! I just hope I will be able to complete it... I know Sue is doing it - anyone else out there in the greater Wgtn region that is keen to compete? I was competitor 886 (give or take a few numbers) so doesn't look like it will be that diabolical.

So work today - it was a long day and the headache kept coming and going but I just plodded on cause I'm tough! Yeah right I don't think so but it sounds good! LOL

Food today has been quite good. I keep meaning to say that I am trying to cut bread right down as Robyn from the gym thinks that could be part of the stomach problems (not that I eat a lot of it) so in the mornings I am now having a small bowl of WW ceral along with the yoghurt that Helena got me addicted to when she had the "girlie brunch" at her place! Yum - it is so nice. Had a nice tuna salad today - pretty pricey so not sure if I will have that from that particular place again. Then left over roast chook with new potatoes, carrots and beans for tea.

Water has been pretty slack though - probably only 1.5 litres. And no that is not the reason for the headache as the headache started early in the morning.

Right time to go back to blobbing out - catch ya all later.

2nd update for Sunday

Hi ya

Just a quickie to say the following:

1) I did go for a walk this afternoon - even talked Steph in to coming with me so we drove down to Petone foreshore and did a 50 min walk along the beach. Probably wasn't as brisk as I would normally go if I was by myself but it was fun quality time.

2) Just had the most delicious roast chicken meal for tea with lots of veggies! Sorry just had to share that one with you.

3) I did it! After reading both Helena's and Sue's stories today about their experiences in the Triathlon... I have signed up for the Duathlon which is in 9 weeks time! Yeap 9 weeks to train myself to ride 10kms on a bike! I CAN DO THIS and I WILL DO THIS!!! Not about how fast I do this but its about having fun and being able to say I did it! So off to The Cycle Centre in Upper Hutt on Saturday morning to get myself the ladies seat that I have been procrastinating over since Christmas and then look out here I come!

This challenge could be just the thing I need to kick start my motivation again - who knows... but so far so good - I can feel the motivation and enthusiasm returning slowly but surely!

Right off to ring my dear friend Trish in Invercargill... catch ya all later

Sunday...

Hi

Thought I better show my face here today in case you had all thought I had given up! But I was never going to give up - take a break yes but I would never give up! Okay yes it has been known in the past that when people take a break that the break ends up being for a loooooooooooong time and things end up out of control again... That is probably the reason why I am hesitant to have a break so to speak but I know I need to do something about the way things are going and probably fairly quickly too.

But thank you so much for the support and encouragement through the comments and also emails too! Like I have said many a time - I wouldn't have made it this far on my journey without the support I have from you all online and also my "real life" friends too.

Going back to Friday - woke with a thumper headache but forced myself to go to work due to the high work volume etc... just took things slowly and took some high strength panadol and slowly came right. Had an interesting morning tea "meeting" with our bosses boss - it sure got heated at times regarding Jude's position that they are not yet advertising but about an hour later we sort of came to some sort of arrangement... not the the one we wanted but hey its all about compromise I guess. We went to Steph's sisters place on Friday night to have tea with them (Fish and chips) and to watch the rugby where the Hurricanes kick the Blues butts!!! Great game to watch especially the second half when the Hurricanes scored 34 points!

Yesterday - I had my gall bladder scan and according to the sonographer it showed nothing up but the Drs at the clinic will look at it more throughly on Monday and then send a written report to my Dr. Guess I was pretty frustrated by that result as I was hoping that it would pick up something but now I am back to square one! After the scan, we did the groceries, home again and had lunch before getting stuck into the housework. I then made some delicious Salmon Hash Cakes (from the Food in a Minute website - also been on TV this week) in mini muffin trays to take as a plate to Stephs brothers "annual" party. They have a party each year as both his brother and sister in law have their birthday in the same week as well as their wedding anniversary so their partys have become quite popular and entertaining.

Had a good time there - continious finger food all evening long. Ate too much as when I got home I had that "fat blah" feeling and couldn't get comfortable in bed. Had been planning on drinking quite a bit though but only had 3 Gin and Tonics (with a large water in between each one) so of course I am feeling rather good this morning! LOL We hitched a ride home (around the corner and down the road) with Steph's parents and Steph walked around this morning to get the car.

Not a lot else planned today - might catch up with a friend Jo who also lives in Stokes Valley. But thats about it - MIGHT go for a walk later today depending on how I feel but right now I ain't doing any exercise!

Right catch ya all later... have a good week everyone.

Weigh In

Despite me saying all day that I wasn't going to go to weigh in today... I kept hearing Jude saying "It's up to you whether or go or not but you know what I think" (which by the way was - face the music each week - remember how far you have come - and if you gain you will get rid of it again) so I toddled off there on the way home and had the gain I was expecting - a gain of 800gms taking my total loss back to 40.1 kilos and my weight to 89.1 kilos. Shit only just sitting over that 40 kilo loss mark! I don't want to go back over that again! Soooo I guess there is some motivation if there is any - that 40 kilo mark is only 100gms gain away and we all know how easy it is to gain 100gms! So it is now time to do some serious thinking and analysing of where I have come from, what I want to achieve and how I am going to do it!

That reminds me of something written up on the whiteboard at the gym which goes along the lines of:
"To acheive your goals in life, you have to be able to picture yourself at your goal (or each mini goal along the way), have a realistic plan to acheive that goal and then be able to carry out that plan" Well it went something like that - sounded a lot better when I was reading it whilst on the treadmill yesterday!

A few of you have suggested me taking some "time out" for a wee while to have a break from weight loss, exercise etc... I mentioned this to Barbara today and she is not really that keen on me doing that as she told me stories of people who have had a "break" and then never come back and she even told me one story of a lady who had lost 62 kilos and then decided to have a break and despite follow up calls and letters didn't come back... and a year later Barbara ran into her at the supermarket and she had gained 78 kilos in one year!!!!! And this woman thought she had learnt enough to be able to have a break and maintain for a wee while but obviously she wasn't able to! Okay I think I have learnt enough - but have I really???? I have been doing this journey just short of 3 years now! I mean one would think that after 3 years of weighing in almost every week that one would know ones weak points and strong points etc... but do we really??? So yeah after that discussion I guess I am scared to have a break really. She did say that if at any stage I feel that she is pressuring me in anyway that I am to tell her and we will talk about it etc... and that perhaps we can just have an "easy" month so to speak. Not go overboard but not stress about the result each week either so that is one option so to speak.

Though I do need to do some serious thinking about the gym side of things - I am really struggling to find the motivation to get there - and normally once I am there I am fine and dandy but lately I have struggled to get through the programme and am not really feeling any better for having been! I am planning to get together with Helena at some stage to check out her gym in town and perhaps join there so I can go in the mornings when I do have more energy... but she has her Triathalon this weekend and then goes away for 2 weeks so I guess I will have to wait for her return before I can organise a visit there. Yes I guess I could go by myself but if I join with her as a referal there are benefits for the both of us I understand.

Food today - not too bad - quite a bit more of those organic plums - boy they are delicious! And then I got taken out to lunch today by one of the Managers at work who was "concerned" about me. We had a marvellous chat and I have a couple of tasks to do tomorrow to start the ball rolling in a couple of areas. Oh back to the lunch though - we both had a delicious ham, lettuce, tomato and camembert sandwich on multi grain bread. She also had a caramel chocolate gooey slice but I said no to that but mainly cause I am not a caramel lover! I did however have a banana/berry smoothie which was delicious. Water today - about 2 litres so not as good as I have been but still ok in my eyes. Exercise - none apart from the walk from the station to work and then back again in the afternoon. Oh and Plimmer Steps too - I counted the steps the other day and there are only 53 of them plus the step hill at the top! And here I was thinking that I would be able to join Jo in climbing 268 steps one evening - I don't think so!!!

Anyway, enough rambling from me - oh Yummy Mummy - thank you for thinking of me in the shower (that did make me giggle) - I do have an aroamatherapist who I see for massage and reki healing so perhaps it is time to find the money and make an appt to see her for a good session! I would LOVE to have a day spa session but hey that is definitely out of my league! But a good soothing relaxing massage I am sure I could manage the funds for so will do some budgeting figures and see what I come up with.

Thanks everyone for your support and comments - I know I wouldn't be where I am today without your support!

Ciao

Not doing too well

Hi all

Well I have a headache tonight so this will be short and sweet (hopefully just like me)...

Work today has been another full on day - our bird brain temp finished with us today (thank god) - 3 weeks earlier than she was supposed to finish but the HR team downstairs want to use her so we were more than happy for them to take her as she is just not a payroll person at all! Okay - more work for L and I but thats life and we have been told any overtime we do will definitely be paid which is great. The boss has said he would prefer it if we do an extra hour each night rather than working weekends so will play that by ear and see how we go.

Food today - hmmm ok I guess. Had the Director General's monthly morning tea - relatively healthy choices there - had some bread with salami, camembert and gherkins on it (ok I had 3 pieces - french sticks cut up). But hey surely that was better than hot cross buns (with lots of butter) or scones with jam and cream on them! Have eaten a lot of fruit today as one of the ladies downstairs is selling Organic Black Doris Plums and I brought a bag of them for the team but hmmmmm I think I had about at least 6 of them! Along with a manderin and a peach during the day too... Oh had a few crackers with hummus on them for lunch - not that I probably needed it with all that fruit!! Water today - really good - about 3 litres so am happy with that.

Exercise - literally forced myself to the gym this evening despite my headache. I thought my headache may go away with the exercise but no such luck. Am really struggling with motivation for the gym right now (along with overall motivation I think) so am going to do some serious thinking over the next wee while and see what I can come up with.

Right - I am outta here. Not sure if I will get to weigh in tomorrow but will keep you posted.

Night all

PS Meant to say that after almost 2 weeks on ISOGEL - there has been very little change if any at all in any bowel movements or the way my stomach feels! Have also cut bread out of my diet for the last few days and that hasn't helped either... so looks like it could be GallBladder problems I am having - have the Ultrasound on Saturday morning.

Short week

Hi

Yay another short week! :) Only 3 more days till the weekend! LOL Now normally I am not that bad but this week I feel in that sort of mood I guess.

Am feeling a bit better than I have over the last couple of days - thanks for all your support and love - it means so much to me :) I guess being busy at work does help me get through the day easier as there is less time to think of Jude and the things I should be doing for her whereas at the weekends and in the evenings - its like I should be calling her, I should be visiting, I should be helping etc etc... but like people have said that will all take time to adjust and yes I will have my "bad" days but thats to be expected and they will become less frequent.

I am sorry if I have raved on a lot about Jude - there was a lot of background to our friendship - things I can not go into in my journal - and I am missing her so much and this is where I come to express myself... so if you think I am going on too much then please just skip ahead to the next paragraph whenever you feel I am raving on...

Food today - not the best at all. Didn't get a lunch break but there had been a lunch catered for in the boardroom next door - so I had a potato top savoury, a club sandwich and 3 SMALL pieces of peppermint slice! Yes THREE pieces but gees it was flaming delicious and I loved every mouthful of them! Then for tea we had grilled pork chops and normally I cut the fat off them before cooking them so I am not tempted to eat it but nope didn't do that today either so yeap I ended up eating the fat off the chop! I know this is definitley not some peoples cup of tea but for others we just love it! LOL Naughty I know but no going back and there are some things that my will power just struggles on each and every time! Water today - about 2.5 litres so am ok with that.

Exercise - not long home from a lovely walk around Upper Hutt with Sheri! Thanks heaps mate - loved the walk, the company and the catch up! We really should do it more often though I know the evenings aren't the best of times for you with bath times for the girls etc... Thanks for listening to me rave on :)

Right, its now almost 9.30pm and as I had a shit night last night I am off to bed to hopefully have a better sleep.

Catch ya all tomorrow sometime.

Long weekends...

Oh I do love long weekends - I could have a 3 day weekend every week! But then I guess we would get used to that and would then want 4 day weekends... and so it goes on!

Today I have felt a bit better than yesterday - well most of the day anyway. Had another sleep in today - thats two days in a row now that I have slept till after 9am! Most unlike me so I guess my body was telling me that I needed the extra sleep... Haven't done too much today - tidied up a bit and then Lynaire and Kev came around just after 12 and we sat on the deck and had some chippies and drinks before having lunch which was chicken, green salad and fresh bread! YUM! :) Then it was more yak kity yak before they left about 4ish. We then decided to pop to the Warehouse to see what bargins they had left from their Waitangi Weekend Sale - well at that time of the day - there was sweet bugger all left so after wandering around aimlessly for about 30 mins or so we left there empty handed!

Home to prepare tea - steak, potatoes and green salad! Then I thought what the hell I would go for a walk, so threw on my walking pants and sneakers and the streets doing my usual 5km route. Did it in 43 mins which is a good time for me - boy I was certainly doing some big strides - you taller girls would be proud of me! LMAO

So have just had a shower to cool down a bit, done the dishes and about to head to bed I think. Might try ringing mum again as she has been away for the long weekend at some Petanque tournament up north... I did try earlier but no answer which is unlike her as normally I get the answerphone so will try again in a moment.

Hope you all have a good short week and I will catch ya all tomorrow probably.

Sunday blues

Hi ya

Have had a crap day today - feeling really blue and down... missing Jude heaps! Probably cause I have TOM and she used to give me the most amazing back rubs when I had TOM to make me feel better... and boy it sure did work! I in turn would give one to her too whenever TOM turned up for her but as she was going through Menopause it was rather irregular at times!
Have done a bit of crying today off and on... but despite trying to think of the happy, fun times we had - all I can think of is her being sick and the last few weeks! I have been able to find on my old computer two poems that she wrote for me (as she loved writing poems) back in 2004! So I am going to copy them to CD and then get them printed and laminated so I can hang them up and be able to read them all the time!
So despite the way I have been feeling, we have still done the housework, Steph did an awesome job at scrubbing and cleaning the cream ceramic tiles we have in the hallway, bathroom and kitchen! They look amazing now! We really should make an effort to do them more often I guess then that way it wouldn't be such hard work! We have visited his parents briefly before I walked up to the local cafe/bar to meet up with two friends from the forum I belong to - one of them is now 11 weeks pregnant and its so exciting. The other is going to start trying for number 2 next mth after her wedding! It is fun having other people near by who are going through the same sort of things in the "baby" department! Came home from that and as Steph was watching the motorsport on TV I went out and mowed the lawns! Gees I can't believe how much I enjoy mowing the lawns nowadays! I used to love it as a kid then couldn't stand doing them but now I love it again!
Neither of us were that hungry when it came to tea - so about 7.30pm we just ended up having toasted sandwiches for tea and then a few strawberries and ice cream for dessert a wee while ago.
Not a lot planned for tomorrow - Lynaire and Kev are coming for lunch so that should be fun and it will be great to catch up with them.
Oh I got my belated birthday present from Stephan's parents today - gift vouchers from Millers - so got some shopping to do soon ladies! LOL Not planning on spending it all at once - just slowly as I need things - well thats my plan anyway! LOL
Right I am off to bed... will catch up tomorrow night or Tuesday.

Saturday evening

Hi ya

Yesterday ended up being another diabolical day at work but I am pleased to say that I was able to get through more or less everything that I had on my desk which really did make my day as I thought I may have had to work over the weekend... okay I didn't really have much of a break and stayed a bit longer than I normally would but the work got completed... well more or less.

Went to a friends birthday dinner last night - my friends partner had organised a surprise dinner for her and it all went to plan and a great night night was had by all who went along! Ended up getting home about 3hrs later than what I had initally planned but thats only cause I was having such a good time! LOL Steph had decided that he would rather not go as he wouldn't have really known many of the people there so that meant no drinking for me - bugger! But hey I still had a brilliant time. Only thing that spoilt the whole evening was TOM arriving... bugger! Had hoped that I may have been pregnant as it was late arriving but thats another long story altogether!

This morning, I woke relatively early but with a crook tum! Had not booked to go to the gym as I was meeting up with Jude's parents at her brothers place at 10am and would have been too pushed for time to fit the gym in and be up there by 10. Yes I did contemplate a walk but with the crook tum I decided it was better that I stay close to the bathroom! LOL

Spent a lovely hour with Jude's family - a few more tears were shed and before I knew it I had to get going as they were heading into town to meet Judes son for a birthday lunch. So have promised that I will keep in touch with them and I have their email addresses and phone numbers so I will keep in touch as they consider me part of the extended family which means so much to me.

After leaving there, I popped around to my friends place who's birthday dinner I had been at last night to say hi and to see her new present - a brand new computer along with a flat screen etc... Her darling partner had organised for a friend to come and install it etc whilst we were at the dinner... Stayed there for about an hour before coming back home.

Neither Stephan or I were in the mood to do anything too much so spent the next couple of hours just blobbing around at home. Went and did the groceries before coming home and getting stuck into cleaning the outside of the house. It was lots of fun (or I thought so anyway) - Steph had the bucket (with Sugar Soap in it) and house brush and went along scrubbing everything and I followed behind with the hose! Though I did have turns with the brush - boy that was hard work!

Have just dinner of oven baked crumbed fish and chips along with a delicious green salad. Oh had a lovely Gin and Tonic too since I had TOM - its about the only week of each month that I do relax and have a drink or too. The rest of the time I refrain from drinking if I can to ensure a healthy pregnancy. I am really enjoying reading Kate's journal at the moment with all her updates about home births etc... so fasincating really! Or I think so anyway being someone who is trying to get pregnant so will have these decisions to make one day... if I am lucky that is!

Anyway, tomorrow we will be doing housework including scrubbing/washing the floor tiles inside (haven't been done for quite some time)! I am meeting two friends tomorrow at 4pm at the local cafe/bar for a quick catch-up.

Then on Monday we have our friends Lynaire and Kev coming over for lunch for a catch up so that will be really great and all going well we will be able to sit out on the deck and just relax, enjoy the sunshine and have a drink or two.

Hope you are all having a great enjoyable long weekend - catch ya all later.

Weigh In

Hi

Went to weigh in this evening and managed to record a loss of 100gms which we all know although it is not a lot it is so much better than a gain! Hmmmm I wonder if I hadn't had that bacon last night if that would have made a difference! LOL Oh well too late now... though I did turn down Banana Cake today as it was our GM's birthday today so she shouted cake and a fudge slice for morning tea and I said no to both of them - settling for a organic black doris plum instead! :)

Work today was diabolical due to the temp being away sick and it only being the two of us there though we did manage to get heaps done without the temp asking us thosands of questions throughout the day! Though at one stage I was ready to throw my phone out of the window (if the windows opened that is) as it just wouldn't stop ringing and boy some of the stupid questions people were asking - they were pushing me to the limit I tell you!!!

Food today has been really good - just had a yummy home cooked Beef Madras on rice for tea - boy it was spicer than either of us had planned but still yummy! Water today has been great too! Exercise - well for some reason I seem to have slipped back into my old routine of Thursday and Friday being exercise free days.... as over Christmas I was walking every day (or bike riding). Though on saying that the evening is still young... anything is possible still!

Not too much planned for the long weekend at this stage which in hindsight could be a good thing... but I will be back with updates over the weekend. Hope you all have a good Friday and an enjoyable long weekend.

Oh before I go - thanks again to you all for your love and support - it means so, so much to me!!!

Did it again

Yeap made it to the gym again today... could be on a roll here ladies! Though on saying that I won't be able to make it on Saturday morning as I am catching up with Jude's parents whilst they are down for the weekend. Am going to go up to her brothers place for a cuppa and chat so am looking forward to that.

So today.... workwise - busy but thats nothing new. One day I might have something exciting to tell you about work! LOL I thought I was in "pain" after the dentist last night but that was nothing compared to what L went through last night as she had a tooth break in half (right down to the root) and ended up at the emergency dentists and was in the chair for over an hour as they struggled to get it all out! OUCH!!!!!!!!! She was at work today (though came in a bit later than normal) but was very quiet... though that is hardly surprising really!

Food today - if I had written this an hour ago I could have said brilliant!! But in the last hour I have had 4 bacon strips!! Gees Karen I do wonder where my self control is at times! Basically we had a large packet of bacon strips that had to be cooked ASAP so Steph decided to cook them all up so will now be living on Bacon sandwiches for the next few days. But we both started eating strips as they came out of the pan. Okay they were not cooked in any fat or butter or anything like that - but we all know how fatty bacon can be! But I do have say - oh my god it was delicious!!! Sad I know but I am being honest here.

Water today - about 3 litres so am happy with that. At least thats one good thing with this heat and high humidity we are having - we all seem to be drinking plenty of water which is excellent!

Exercise - well like I said I did get to the gym again today so am pleased with that. Did not do my weights or tricep dips due to my shoulder still being sore from when I hurt it doing weights on Monday.

Weigh in tomorrow - no idea what to expect really. Will get a beter idea when I weigh myself in the morning! Would love a loss but with TOM lurking and some other things happening I am not sure which way the scales will go... but will be back tomorrow to update ya all!

Until then - have a great Thursday everyone!
