Wednesday night
Hi all
Well just another quickie today (gees I am getting good at these now LOL) as yes I am off to bed shortly as I am so tired and feeling a bit blah too but am sure I will come right. TOM is due in the next 4 or so days unless of course I end up having another long cycle but fingers crossed things are starting to settle down in that dept by now!
Work - gees another full on day! But the thing with the new/old job is that it is a different sort of busy and I don't mind it as the whole team shares the work load rather than at the old job where it was just me (majority of the time) being so damn busy!
Foodwise - guess the right words to describe it today is "just above average" but with the way I was feeling I could have done a lot worse but I managed to fight the urges 99% of the time which I guess is a good effort especially for me! Waterwise - about 3 litres so am pleased with that effort.
Exercise - a great session at the gym! God I am really loving it at the moment which is scary but I guess the "good" part is that going by past records it is usually when I get stuck into a new programme and going for it like nothing can stop me is when I get pregnant so fingers crossed... And of course there was Plimmer Steps! I did take photos of those this morning but have not yet downloaded them so once I have done that I will post them. Oh on the exercise front - I DID manage the bike ride yesterday evening!!! Granted it was only for 10 mins around the block but I did it and I did it on the road with traffic!! LMAO Have to be honest and say that my thighs and butt were rather sore this morning (and the butt is still a bit tender) but it was so worth it!!!
Oh we are having a team building day tomorrow at work - pulling flaming weeds from some fort pensuilar (excuse spelling) out Miramar way!!! And apparantly there is a good hill to climb first so I should get some good exercise in before weigh in! LOL Got my backpack packed.... sun hat, suntan lotion, mossie repellant, sweatshirt, jacket, snack food (ie rasins, museli bars, crackers etc...) and can't forget the torch as apparently we are going under ground in some tunnels too at some stage! Oh joy it should be fun... NOT! But anyway it is a day out of the office so it could be fun!
Right this was supposed to be a quickie but I have started rambling on.... I am outta here catch ya all tomorrow after weigh in!

All is well...
Hi all
Yeap another Tuesday over (well almost) and so far so good! :) Was a full on day at work and the day just flew by!
Foodwise today - another great day if I must say so myself and dinner is simmering - Watties sweet and sour chicken (98% Fat Free). Water - about 2 litres so am ok with that effort too. Exercise - well none apart from Plimmer Steps at this stage but all going well I am planning on venturing out for about 20mins or so on the bike after tea so wish me luck on that one! Just gotta check to see if Steph's helmet will fit my big head otherwise I could be riding around and around the house for a long time! LOL
I tried to do something for the first time ever today - give blood! Both my parents are (were as in Dad's case) active blood donors as is my sister. It is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time but always chickened out so today I talked myself in to doing it... so went at lunch time, queued up, filled in the forms, waited in the next queue, had my interview with the nurse only to be told that I had a 6mth stand down period due to having a miscarriage (or two in my case) so have to wait until at least Feb next year before I can try again but all going well I will be pregnant by then and will have to wait even longer as they do not like taking blood from a pregnant woman! So was gutted having to walk away without making a donation! But I have to play by the rules I guess... so lets wait and see what happens in Feb 2006.
Right dinner is ready so time I was outta here - catch ya all tomorrow sometime!

Quickie
Hi all
Yeap just a quickie tonight I promise as I am off to bed as I am shattered...
Been a great day all over really. Real busy at work so that made the day go fast. Foodwise I have had a great day (bar a couple of jelly babies at Jude's this evening). Water - about 2 3/4 litres so am really pleased with that.
Exercise - Plimmer Steps and an awesome amazing work out at the gym! Must have been one of my best and improved the distance in all my cardio activities (ie bike, Treadmill, rower and cross trainer)!
Popped up to Judes after the gym to drop something off to her as she starts round 2 of the chemo tomorrow. She is a bit apprehensive about it which is totally understandable after a good week!
Right I am outta here - catch ya all later!

Another weekend over
Hi all
Well yeap another weekend gone and this time in 4 weeks time Christmas Day will almost be over! Wow only 4 weeks to go until Christmas - boy this year sure has flown by but on saying that I will be pleased to see the back of 2005 as it has been a sad, stressful year in many ways so we are really hoping that 2006 will bring better and brighter things in all aspects.
Anyway, back to the weekend... Saturday I did the gym, home, showered, breakfast, washing, bit of housework, then off to Jude's birthday lunch. Initally there was supposed to be 11 of us but in the end only 4 of us were able to make it for various reasons. It was sad as the majority that had to pull out were due to them having a cold and unfortunately Jude had asked anyone who was not well not to attend as she just couldn't risk getting any bugs. So the 4 of us had a lovely lunch at Mayfair Cafe in Upper Hutt. I had a lovely pumpkin and bacon soup and some garlic bread.... oh then we all had dessert (except poor ole Jude) and I had a chocolate fudge brownie with yoghurt on the side. But hey birthdays only come once a year and it was a special birthday cause in all reality we don't know how many more birthday's Jude will have with us! Took Jude home along with another friend Marianne and we mucked around at Judes for awhile before I dropped Marianne home and then it was back home for me where we then went and did the groceries and then it was home for a quiet evening. Had nachoes for tea so overall my food yesterday was not the best but thats life and I intend to still be able to live life and enjoy myself!
Today, I slept in till about 8.45am so decided that I might get a walk in later on (which did not eventuate) so just showered, breakfast and cleaned Charlies cage before doing a quick trip to Judes to take her to the supermarket (as we were going to do that yesterday but she was too tired after the lunch). Home again and had lunch before Steph and I hit the shops to do some more Christmas Shopping... ok well we managed to get one of his sisters presents out of the way but the rest of the stuff we bought was for ourselves! Ooops! We are seroiusly looking at getting a Laptop to replace my computer as we are having major probs with it so we spent quite a bit of time looking at Laptops too... Got myself a backpack whilst out so I can carry my stuff more easily now I have further to walk to get to work and as I wear sneakers to and from work I have other shoes to carry as well as other bits and pieces.
Stopped off for a coffee break at his parents, then it was down to his sisters place in Silverstream to say hi to them and to borrow his 13yr old neices bike to see if I could still ride and if the size was right etc... Yeap she is only 13 but is taller than me (something she rubs in reguarly) so we brought the bike home, Steph pumped up the tyres and off I went around and around the house! YIPPPEEE!!! I can still ride a bike!!!! I am so excited!!! So look at Helena you could have a biking buddy real soon!!! We just have to lower the seat a WEE bit but Steph didn't have his allen keys at home so will bring them home from work tomorrow so he can lower the seat a bit. As his neice doesn't use it anymore, they have told us to keep it indefinitley so that will be good but I do need to decide if I want Steph to buy me one of my own for either Christmas or my birthday (in January).
I had bought some fresh pasta and sauce for tea tonight but I decided to try a different brand and unfortuately it was not very nice and neither of us liked it so we ended up biffing it in the bin and having toasted sandwiches instead!
But anyway, this was just gonna be a quick entry but as usual I have raved on... so will catch ya all tomorrow. Hope you all have a great week.

Feeling a bit better
Hi all
Just a quickie but wanted to say thank you so much for all lovely comments and txt's/emails after my entry last night. You all mean so much to me and no I won't be giving up but this journey sure does seem real hard at times.
I have told Jules that we can reach our Christmas/New Year goals together and we WILL do just that!
I had my treat from the snack box today - okay I had two treats but as Anne said in one comment earlier in the week -I got the 2 min satisfaction from them and then thought "why did I have that" but never mind too late now.
Did Plimmer Steps again today - and its starting to feel just part of my routine so that is all good.
Off to Judes shortly to give her her birthday present and to pass on some other pressies/cards from staff at work. This is her week off chemo so she has generally had a good week which is great. 2nd round of Chemo starts on Tuesday... There is a group of 8 of us going out to lunch with her tomorrow to celebrate her birthday so that will be nice but it will be a short lunch as she can not manage more than an hr out and about at a time. Though she has said we are welcome back at her place afterwards if we are interested - that way she can still curl up on the couch and rest whilst talking to us rather than being out and about.
Right time I was outta here -just wanted to say thanks to you all! I wouldn't be where I am today without all you wonderful readers! I love ya all!
Ciao

Weigh Day
Hi all
Yeap another week rolls on and another weigh in session has been... not overally happy with my result but hey a loss is a loss which IS better than a gain I guess. Managed to lose a peasley 200gms taking my total loss to 38.6 kilos so am still 700gms away from being an 80's chick and 1.4 kilos away from my 40 kilo mark! The rate I am going I will never flaming get to those two goals of mine which by the way I was supposed to have acheived months ago... and then by 6th Nov but have I done it... NO I HAVE NOT!!!
Yes I have been through a lot this year but the last 3 weeks or so I have put so much effort into my food, water and exercise and I have had 3 bloody tiny losses!!! 200gms, 500gms and now another 200gms!!! How pathetic is that!!! Bloody useless if you ask me!
I really do feel just like giving up on this whole journey but I also know deep down that I won't but believe me it is really tempting at times to say "F#$% everything" and just give up!
Oh well on to other bits and pieces - walked up Plimmer Steps again which once again felt really good and yeah I guess it is getting easier having done it 3 days in a row and soon I guess it will become a habit.
Food - not too bad I guess considering I had to organise a birthday morning tea at work today on behalf of Jude as it is her birthday today. So as well as sausage rolls and muffins and chocolate mud cake I also got fresh fruit and a small cheeseboard with crackers for the healthy options. I had one tiny sausage roll and then I just had fruit and cheese and crackers for the rest of the day - not a lot but enough to keep me going I guess.
Well thats me for the night - not really feeling like talking much more. Am sure I will come right over time but for now I just want to do nothing....
See ya

Absoutely buggered!
Hi ya
Well as my title suggests I am absoutely buggered tonight and have a bit of a sore back too so I won't be here for too long...
Not sure what is causing the sore back - might be the "new/different" chair at work but will keep an eye on it. Work today was pretty diabolical as the boss was away so it was just L and me and the phones went non stop and most of the mail that came in was for me.... so it was all go, go, go! But on saying that it did make the day go fast!
Foodwise today - really good except for one wee slip up! That damn snack box!!!! GRRRRRR I was being so strong but I really did need a chocolate/sugar fix after lunch so ended up having a toastie bar!!! OMG it was so delicious but did I need it??? No I did not! And I guess it didn't really give the boost I thought it may have as I still spent the whole afternoon yawning away! Water wise today- about 3 litres so yay for me there! Exercise - I did Plimmer Steps again this morning and once again "enjoyed" it - yes Sheri I know that is hard to believe that anyone can enjoy walking up Plimmer Steps but I do and am struggling to believe that myself! One day I will take a photo of these famous Steps so those people who don't know them can see what I am talking about! And despite being so damn tired and struggling to stay awake during the drive from the train station to the gym - I did go and completed my programme but boy it was a struggle at times! I managed to do my time on everything but the intensity levels were definitely lower than what I have been acheiving over the last fortnight or so! And Robyn was just pleased to see me there making the effort!
Right I have rambled long enough... but before I go I just want to say to Janine! Hope you had a great day mate!
Catch ya all later after weigh in tomorrow.

Tuesday
Hi all
Well I survived day 2 and all is going well! It is just so nice be in a relaxed and less stressful environment and that just has to be better when one is TTC (trying to conceive)! Had some inhouse training today - basically a system overview - learnt a few new things but basically everything is pretty much the same as it was when I was last there.
Food - another great day there and we are having my favourite sweet chilli chicken with new potatoes and salad for tea... YUM! Managed to resist the snack box again... and thanks Anne for your comment on yesterdays journal regarding the snackbox - will definitely keep that in mind! Water - just under 2 litres so am ok with that. Exercise - well no gym but did walk up Plimmer Steps on the way to work (have decided to do the stairs on the days that I don't go to the gym) and boy it was so much easier than it was 2 years ago... okay I was still a bit puffed and a wee bit red but it was so much fun! Then whilst out at lunch I came back walking up Boulcott Street - once again something that is so much easier than it was 2 years ago! Then I had a very very brisk walk to make my normal train tonight so I feel I have done a bit of exercise for the day as I won't get a walk in this evening.
The reason I am not walking this evening is that I am popping up to Judes as we have both missed our daily chats and visits that we had last week so I said I would pop up to her place tonight for an hour or so after tea and take some books up to her etc...
Right dinner is almost ready - time I was outta here. Catch ya all tomorrow sometime.

Day 1 at new job
Hi ya
Well I survived the first day at my new/old job! It was great to be back there and working with some fantastic people - seemed a bit strange without Jude there but we gotta think positively and agree with her that she will be back early next year!!! Though there are some temptations there that I had forgotten all about and that is one of those $1 snack boxes laden with chippies, chocolate etc! And they now have a fridge full with a variety of drinks as well.... the drinks I am ok with as they don't tempt me so much but the snack box is gonna be a hard one! But I managed to resist today so lets see if I can do it again tomorrow! Thought I would allow myself ONE treat a week on a Friday so lets see what happens....
Thanks for the comments about the blinkies - I love playing with them so here is one for ya all:
I discovered them and learnt how to use them on forum I belong to for miscarriages and for those TTC (trying to conceive)...
Foodwise today - marvellous if I must say so myself. Found a nice sandwich place not far from work that makes sandwiches to order - a little bit pricey but they sure are decent sandwiches and filling so that is worth it. Water today - about 2.5 litres so am really pleased with that - and not far to go to the toilet from my new desk either! LOL Exercise - another great session at the gym so am feeling rather good about that!
Oh one thing that is a bummer at the moment and that is my quite severe wind/sun burn - has been hurting quite a bit today but I should have learnt my lesson by now but no not me - silly billy me never learns these things! And I shall be the one to suffer.... my nose is already starting to blister and I think my chest etc is not far away from it....
Right time for me to go watch the end of Home Edition of Extreme Makeover as I LOVE that programme and what they do for "needy" families! Would be wonderful if there was something like that in NZ!
Catch ya all later

A great Sunday
Hi all
Well as much as I would loved to have made today the 7th day in a row doing some form of exercise I didn't quite get there! But hey 6 out of 7 certainly ain't too bad in my eyes! :) And oh just to clarify my entry from yesterday - I didn't do the gym 6 days in a row but just did some form of exercise for 6 days in a row (which was a first for me) - 4 days of the gym and 2 days of 5km walks.
Yesterday, we had a great day out at Tawa at Dressmart and Steph managed to get quite a bit of stuff using his gift voucher (and still has more to use as yet)! He was pleased that we had made the trip to the outlet store as there are so many bargins out there :) After checking out Dressmart (and no I did not buy anything) we went to Johnsonville for lunch and a look around there. We both had a kebab for lunch and that was about it - didn't buy anything from the shops there. Groceries on the way home and then it was time to blob out for a wee while. I ended up going to Judes for tea (which left Steph free to have KFC) but she wasn't that great last night and was in bed by 7.15pm so once she was settled there I left her to go to sleep. Came home and spent an hour or so just playing on the computer learning how to use "blinkies" - I am going to try to put on here so lets see if it works....
Today, although I didn't sleep in I just didn't have the energy to do a walk... so got up and played around on the computer again before sneaking back to bed for a wee cuddle with my darling before he got up :) Shower, then off to his parents place for the cocktail summer brunch! Was a brilliant day as we ended up staying there until about 4.15pm! But the food that Ange (his baby sister) put on was amazing - and I felt I was quite restrained MOST of the time! I had one glass of bubbly upon arrival and then went on to OJ and then water and left the drinking to Steph :) Had an awesome time and have not got sun/wind burnt arms, nose and front of my neck! Had fun playing pick up sticks with the kids, playing pentanque with them and then taking 3 of them for a walk around the block as well! Was great to catch up with everyone and the family friends that were there too!
Left there and we did a quick visit to Jude's place as she lives up the road from them and then it was home to unwind!
Just cooking dinner - ham steak, new potatoes and salad... YUM We even have some strawberries in the fridge so may have some of those for pudding if we feel like it.
Well tomorrow is "D" day - start my new job but am sure all will go well and it will just be a matter of time before I am settled in and starting moaning! LOL
Right gotta get moving - lets see if this blinkie works....

Wow!
Hi ya
I realised this morning whilst at the gym that I have exercised for 6 days in a row now! And for some that might be nothing new but I tend to be pretty laid back on Thursday's and Friday's but this week I did a 5km walk on Thursday morning and then got my sorry arse out of bed on Friday and went to the gym! And then of course with today being Saturday I was back at the gym having another awesome work out! So a big yay for me and just a wee moment of me blowing my own trumpet if I may! :)
So back to yesterday - well I did sleep in a wee bit - till 8am anyway and then as I was laying there I thought what the hell and dashed up to the gym for a great work out! Home, showered, washing, breakfast and then jumped in the car and dashed over to Wainui to a friends place for lunch and a good catch up. Jenny made the most amazing muffins for lunch - so I had two savoury ones and then one sweet one... YUM YUM And it was a good chance to catch up as well so I throughly enjoyed those couple of hours before Jenny had to go off to work (she works shift work). Home again for a couple of hours to muck around and tidy up before popping up to Jude's for my daily visit (and yes I am so gonna miss my daily visits when I start work again next week but I think she will miss them more as it means company for her). Took her to the supermarket so she could get some bits and pieces, then to the Dr's to pick a prescription and to the chemist to get that filled, then back to her place. She needed to rest by then so whilst she was resting I folded all her washing and put what I could away for her then after ensuring she was right and had something organised for dinner I came back home again. Dinner consisted of fish, oven baked fries and salad - YUM! Then it was just a night of relaxation and generally doing nothing.
I had initally decided that as I did the gym yesterday that I wouldn't need to go this morning but when I woke my first thoughts were "gym" so before I could change my mind I was up at the gym having another great session and Robyn has added another exercise to my programme called Tricep Dips and boy my Triceps certainly got a work out with those along with the Tricep Curls I am already doing! Managed to do my whole time on the bike at the higher level so yay for me but my thighs had an awesome work out!
Home, showered, breakfast, washing, housework, doing a quick update whilst waiting for the last load of washing to finish before Steph and I head out to Tawa to Dressmart to check out the Colorado outlet store as Steph got some vouchers for there for his birthday back in July but whilst there we will check out some other shops for me... hehehe Not a lot else planned for today.
Tomorrow we have a family cocktail brunch with Steph's family to welcome summer - so that should be interesting butI won't be drinking - will let Steph enjoy his drinks :)
Anyway, washing machine is beeping at me so best I go hang out the sheets and I will catch ya all later... Have a great weekend everyone.

Weigh day
Hi ya
Boy where has today gone? Can't believe that tomorrow is Friday and the last day of my break! The week sure has flown by!
Got up at 6.45am this morning and hit the pavement doing my 5km walk - was initally very aware of the "rush hour" traffic leaving the valley and thought everyone was watching me but once I got going I was fine and was back home before I knew it!
Showered, then shot down to Weigh in and managed to record a loss of 500gms which I am pleased with. I guess I was hoping for a bigger loss since I was weighing in first thing rather than after work but at least with it being a smaller loss it should be easier for me to ensure I don't gain it back this week when I go back to weighing in after work! So am now only 900 grams away from being an "80's chick" and 1.6 kilos away from the eluding 40 kilo mark! I can do this!!!
Home, breakfast, then up to Judes. The District nurse came around and we had a great chat and then it was off to Porirua with Jude to do some Christmas Shopping. We both managed to get a couple of presents at K-Mart and then had a bite to eat for lunch and then I had a quick look around a couple of shops whilst Jude sat down on a bench and rested. By now she was quite buggered so off home we went and she went to sleep pretty quickly... so once she was home, she lay down and had her nana nap and I disappeared and went over to visit Jo as she was home with Rhian as Rhian's caregiver is sick. Boy those couple of hours went by real quickly with us chattering away and Rhian keeping us entertained once she got up from her nap.
Home, and then Steph and I decided to pop down to Queensgate to do some more Christmas shopping so am just home from that with another 6 presents completed! Yay I feel quite organised this year - real scary indeed! :)
Have spoken to Jude and she is not doing too well this evening - think we may have over done it this afternoon so I will call her shortly and if she is still in pain I will pop back up there to give her one of my "famous" (or should that be "infamous") back rubs which eases her pain and helps her get off to sleep! I was quite well known when I was at DOC for my back rubs that I give so I wonder if that is why I got the job! LOL
Anyway, tea is almost ready so best I get moving... catch ya all tomorrow at some stage.

1/2 way through my "break"
Hi all
Well its Wednesday afternoon and I can't believe how the time is flying by this week but I guess thats the way it happens when you are off work relaxing! :)
Right this morning, I was up at 7.30am and at the gym by 8am - did another awesome session there. I am SO enjoying it at the moment. I still struggle on the bike most times but that might just have to change as I am seriously considering entering the Special K Duathalon which is being held in Wgtn April 16! It is a 3.5km walk/jog/run then a 10km bike ride then a 1.5km walk/jog/run so I guess if I decide to do that I am gonna have to start enjoying the bike! Steph has told me to seriously think about it and if I do want to enter it he will buy me a bike for Christmas so gonna do some thinking about that. It does cost $50 to register which is non-refundable but part of the pack you get when you enter is a t-shirt, a stop watch (valued at $60) and a couple of other things and if you are unable to start the event for whatever reason you are still able to go to registration day and pick up your pack so I guess you still end up getting your moneys worth! So any other takers for entering it with me???? I will be honest and say that I may end up pulling if I am pregnant by then but who knows perhaps I will still enter it but just do it at my pace! My reason for entering it is not for winning it but just being able to say I completed it!
Oooops I digresed from my day there with all that talk of the duathalon.... sorry about that! After doing the gym, it was home, showered, did a load of washing, breakfast, supermarket for bits and pieces for the baking, made two batches of muffins, up to Judes to take her some lunch and what has now become our daily catch up, left her to have her nana nap, got home, dishes (from the baking earlier), and now here I am....
Oh I realised last night that I haven't been mentioning my food much this week - it has been ok overall apart from the occasional slip up like today when I was making the mini muffins this morning (for Steph's rifle prize giving tonight) when 3 found their way into my mouth! But overall I am impressed with how well I have done foodwise this week. Water has been a bit slack but am really making an effort with that today as I think that may be why my throat has been ticklish and dry... a sudden drop in the water intake! And well you know how well my exercise has been this week - am really pleased with that!
But right its 3.45pm now so best I get moving to bring in the washing, fold it, put it away and start thinking about dinner tonight though thats nice and simple tonight - butter chicken (98% fat free from a tin) on rice! Simple but nice and I find just a small bread and butter plate is more than enough for me! :)
Catch ya all tomorrow after weigh in :)

A great day
Hi all
Boy today sure has flown by... and I am so looking forward to my bed tonight! LOL Managed to have a sleep in until 8am this morning which I enjoyed, then I got up, did a couple loads of washing, hung that out, had some brekkie then headed down to Lower Hutt to drop off our Winter duvet to the dry cleaners (well actually took that over to Wainui to a friends shop - gotta support friends when they have businesses) and then did a quick stop at the Warehouse in Lower Hutt looking for some mini muffin trays but as they are 1 day off moving locations it was a mess and they didn't have any... so shot up to Upper Hutt store and found them there and then it was up to Judes place as she wanted to shout me lunch to say thanks for everything. We were going to go to Mayfair cafe but it was chocker so we just went to Fresh Bun instead and I just had a lovely chicken and salad roll and oh a piece of lolly cake too which I did NOT enjoy much at all! Took her back to her place and after a wee chat I then let her have her daily nana nap and headed home.
So since then I have just mucked around doing things around the house, brought in the washing, did a 5km walk (in a record time too of 41 mins so beat my previous best time by 2mins), home, showered, cooked dinner, watered the garden (and broke the hose connection as well), did the dishes and here I am finally sitting down!
I must admit sometimes I get exhausted when I re-read my journals and what I do in a day or weekend but I find nowadays that I just can't sit still for long periods - I have to be doing something whereas in the old days I would just sit down and do nothing and enjoy it! I still do enjoy reading occasionally but can't sit down for as long as I used to.
Oh off to the gym in the morning, home, breakfast etc and then making some mini muffins for Steph to take to prize giving for his rifle club tomorrow night, then will probably pop up to Judes for a wee while and then home to muck around.
Oh before I go - a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Helena for losing 60 kilos!!! That is awesome work mate and I am so proud of you!!!
Right time I was outta here so will love ya and leave ya for now and will catch ya all tomorrow some time.
Ciao

Bliss
Hi all
Well this is the first day of my "break" and its almost 3pm and I am bored! LMAO Okay there are HEAPS of things that I could/should be doing but to be honest I just can not be arsed doing them right now! I do have the beginnings of a headache so have just taken a couple of Nurofen and will go lay down for a wee while when I have finished this update.
Yesterday was a great day - I had ended up staying the night at Judes on Saturday evening as she felt like some company so that was a great night and we had a lovely heart to heart chat... so got home from her place about 11am (after doing some shopping for her to ensure she had some toast for breakfast etc) and then after cleaning Charlies cage and having some lunch, Steph and I headed down to Petone and did some Christmas shopping! Yay we now have 9 presents done but god knows how many more still to go (the downside of two big extended families) but it felt good getting the kids in Aussie done (as well as a couple of the kiwi kids too) so I just have to wrap and post them off at some stage.
Got home and Helena popped in for catch up - I am in awe of her after her completion of the 3 day hike of the Able Tasman Track - walking a total of 57km's in 3 days! Well done to her, Sarah and Liz - you gals ROCK!!! :) So we heard all about the walk and had a general chinwag. Once she had left, I just blobbed out basically - I did consider doing a walk but thought that I could do one after dinner but we ended up having a lateish dinner so by the time I let that settle etc it was getting a bit late to do any decent walk so bugger missed out on that one.
This morning, I didn't really sleep in as I got woken with Steph's alarm going off, so just dozed for a wee while, read my book and then got up, went to the gym and had yet another fantastic session there managing to do the same intensity of cardio that I had done on Saturday morning so am really pleased with myself there. I really do prefer doing the gym in the mornings rather than in the evenings but with the distance between where we live and the gym and trains etc its just really fesiable to do it in the mornings when I am working! After finishing there, I shot up to Judes, showered and had breakfast there before taking her to Upper Hutt where we had a wander around and she managed to make a start on her Christmas shopping. After an hr and a half - we needed to head back to her place as she was starting to get a bit weary. She had a lay down and watched some TV etc... before leaving her in peace to have a nana nap.
So am home, have done a tidy up in the kitchen, caught up on the journals and emails and once I have finished here I will go have a rest to try to shake this headache.
Right thats me - goodness knows what I will do tonight since I have already updated! LOL But am sure I will find something... catch ya later

Saturday
Hi all
Well here we are on a Saturday afternoon and I feel great! :)
Yesterday was my last day at my old job and it was a full on day but a nice one as well. They had a lovely luncheon put on for me although they had decided to try a new caterer so I was a bit disappointed that there was really nothing much there that I liked which I guess was a good thing as it meant I only ate one crossiant and one small muffin though it would have been nice if they had asked me what I had wanted but never mind. My presentation went well and I got a lovely leather wallet and coin purse which I had been eyeing up for a wee while though I can't describe the colour of it LOL I was also presented with one of the company's plaque's which is really an honour as they ususall get those after a minimum of 5yrs service and I have only done 2yrs 2mths and the GM presented that to me and I shed a tear or two then. Ended up sheding a few more tears when I gave my thank you speech and then it was back to work! Oh I also got a lovely gift box containing a bottle of wine, some chocolates, pate, crackers, nuts etc from the GM's personal assistant which really did bring me to tears as it was totally unexpected and was a personal gift from her and her partner (whom I haven't met but spoken to many a time on the phone) and got told by her that it was not "goodbye" but just see ya later and keep in touch! We stopped work about 4pm and had a drink or two but as I had taken the car in (to start early) I only had one drink but did eat a few chippies! But I had some good chats with some of the nicer people in the company. So my break has now begun and I am so looking forward to just resting and relaxing and doing what I want when I want :) I do have a list of things I want to get done this week but am certainly not going to rush around too much as I do want to ensure I get some R&R in there too.
On the way home last night I decided that we could go out for dinner since I was "semi dressed up" and was feeling really good so go home, told Steph and then rung my neice who lives in Lower Hutt to see if she wanted to come too so we picked her up and the three of us went to The Old Flame in Petone (as Michelle's flatmates mum owns the place) and I must admit Steph and I didn't really enjoy it that much but it was nice to spend some time with Michelle and to just relax. We had initally thought of going to Hogs Breathe in Lower Hutt but Michelle had been there the night before with her friends so that was off the list!
This morning, I woke reasonably early and headed to the gym where I had the most fantastic session! In fact it would have to be one of the best that I have had for a long time.... I bettered my times in all my cardio activities - walked at a faster pace on the treadmill, went up a level on the bike for 5 of the 7 mins, did a full complete 7 mins on the rower (which has been my target for some time) and did an extra min on the cross trainer (or the beast as it is known at our gym). I did extra squats with the bar, extra roll downs, extra sit ups and I felt FLAMING EXCELLENT!!! The sweat was pouring off me but I was on such a high! It was quite interesting as Robyn asked me how I had gotten on at weigh in this week and when I told her it was 100gms she was about to start a mini lecture I think when I quickly continued to tell her about the chat I had with Barbara about how I could have easily gained a lot of weight this year with all the emotional stress etc that I have been through and how I have kept on going and have not given up... Robyn really had no option but to agree with us! LOL
Home, showered, breakfast, cleaned the bathroom etc, did the groceries (trying New World this week rather than Woolworths), home, lunch, mucked around with Steph having a good ole laugh and lots of fun, then Jo popped in with my Avon order so we had a good chat, then once she let, Steph popped out to his brothers place, so I threw on my old sneakers and mowed the lawns! :)
And now here I am... drinking a lovely glass of Ribena blackberry and cranberrry concentrate and having some raisins :)
For tea tonight we are having some lovely steak from New World, with gourmet potatoes and a salad. I am then heading up to Judes place as she has had to come back from her parents place early due to her mum not being well and basically Jude can not be around sick people now due to her immune system being so low. So a friend of hers went and picked her up from Foxton early this afternoon so I said I would pop up after tea and that if she wanted me too and that she felt she needed/wanted the company that I would crash up there in the spare bed but we will play that by ear and see how she is after the trip back but when I spoke to her earlier on she is feeling a lot better and she sounded the best she has done in a LONG time which is great news!
Tomorrow - not a lot planned so will just play it by ear and see what eventuates.
Before I head off, I just want to share with you some tips that I read in the latest "Slimming" magazine. These are from the "Slimming" magazine slimmer of the year and are her tips on staying motivated:
* Work out why you want to lose weight and redefine your goals as you go along if they no longer work for you.
* Accept that there are going to be hard days sometimes. Weight loss is not easy but the rewards are so worth it.
* Be kind to yourself. Food is only one part of it, you need to work on accepting and liking yourself to succeed.
* There are benefits to losing weight that you won't even realise - like happiness, friendlier and being more approachable. Life is so full of opportunities.
* If you fall off the wagon one day, don't call yourself weak or useless. Just pick yourself up and start again.
Just thought I would share those with you... but now its time I was outta here and start preparing the salad etc for tea. Hope you are all having a good weekend. Catch ya all tomorrow some time.

One more sleep...
Hi all
Yeap only one more sleep to go until I finish my job! YAY!!! Like I have said in previous posts I will be sad to leave there as I have made some great friends but hey isn't that what emails are for? :) Today was another full on day made worse by the fact that Denise was away sick today and is not even sure she will be able to make it in tomorrow... so that could be interesting but I know she is going to try her best to be there! I do feel bad as I have not been able to complete everything for a clean handover to the new lady but I have done my best and that is what I have to remember and that is all I can do! I was hoping to be able to put on a morning tea for everyone tomorrow (following the example of the Mgr that left last week) but I just haven't had the time nor energy to bake let alone think about what I could buy in... and anyway since my offical farewell function is a lunch we don't need morning tea as well!
Had weigh in this evening and wasn't too sure what to expect as the scales at home were up 200gms from last week but I managed to record another SMALL loss of 100gms so on I go with this journey - slowly but surely! Barbara did tell me today though that she is extremely proud of me for not only continuing on this journey but not resorting to emotional eating and gaining huge amounts of weight! Like she has said - she knows many a people who would easily be gaining between 1-2 kilos a week with the stress that I have been going through lately... So the fact that I have not given up (and nor will I despite the temptation at times) is a really good thing for me to remember! Total loss is now sitting at 37.9 kilos - so yeap still 2.1 kilos till the 40 kilo mark and no I didn't make in time for my mini goal last weigh in but I WILL make it before Christmas! And another thing that Barbara and I discussed this evening was this saying that "Failing does not make you a failure but quitting does" and there ain't no way I am quitting this journey! I may take a rest every now and then but sure as hell am going to keep on going no matter how long it may take me!
Jude is doing ok today from what I have heard from txt's and a phone call so that is good to hear. She is going to go up to Foxton with her parents for 3/4 days tomorrow - so a change of scenery and some different visitors (family friends) etc will be good for her but I am looking forward to helping her doing some christmas shopping etc when I have next week off work.
I have also realised that I have not finished updating my blogger page as yet so my sincere apologies for that... there are a lot more journals to be added to the list that I read as well as adding in my stats etc... I will get there one day I promise!
Right I am outta here as I want to water the garden etc so will love ya but leave ya and will be back tomorrow probably since we have nothing major planned for this coming weekend :)
Catch ya all later and have a great Friday everyone!

2 days to go...
Hi all
Another quickie from me really as it is just gone 8.30pm and I am shattered! Been a full on day at work - the new lady started and she does seem really nice and although she knows Payroll "stuff" and has worked in payroll for a number of years she has not used the system we use so it has been quite tiring explaining not only the system to her but also explaining how all the shifts work and all the different entitlements the staff get! I think she went home pretty brain dead tonight! :) We did have a welcoming morning tea for her and despite all good intentions I had ONE savoury and ONE scone with jam and cream (though I chose the one with the least amount of jam and cream) so felt a bit bad for having those but never mind.
So overall foodwise today has been great (apart from the morning tea) - have only just had tea and I really don't like eating so late but never mind it doesn't happen too often thank goodness. Water - about 2 litres today as am ok with that. Exercise - I went to the gym and had another great workout - Robyn has added another exercise to my programe today and boy it sure works those ab's of mine!
After the gym, I popped up to Judes as she had asked me if she could borrow some of my vases that I have (I have quite a number from when I was doing ceramics) so popped up and dropped those off and had a good chat to her and her parents. She is still quite yellow but feeling really good within herself which was nice to see. She is still losing weight as well - I keep joking with her that she will catch up to me the rate she is going! So I have decided to keep some of my "too big" clothes and pass them on to her should she need them. Jude is also contemplating going back to Foxton with her parents all going well on Friday for 2/3 days and hopefully her brother will pick her up and bring her home on the Monday. I have offered my services to her (as I LOVE going to her parents place) since I will be on my "holiday" so she has said she will let me know on Sunday evening how things are going. A few of you have commented on how good a friend I am to Jude - there is a lot of background about our friendship which I am unable to go in to details on here but she is ALWAYS there for me and I intend to ALWAYS be there for her for as long as she needs me no matter what! Steph is aware of the background and understands me spending time up there and he does come with me to visit her when he can as he too values Jude's friendshipm and company.
Right time I was outta here.... things to do before hitting the sack for the night!

3 days to go...
Hi all
Yeap only 3 days to go until I finish my job! Yay!!!! :) I will be sad at saying goodbye to some of the friends I have made there but overall I will pleased to have a new start... The new woman starts tomorrow so that should be interesting :) Oh Kate - yeah I think there are drinks on Friday for my farewell - I know there has been talk of all sorts of things but as it is our busy week it probably won't be anything too time consuming. Why do I always leave jobs at the busy week - must plan it for a quiet week next time so we get time to have a proper farewell! :)
Overall work was ok today - pretty frustrating at times with the way things were happening system wise but I will get there!
Food today - really good. Water - just over 2 litres. Exercise - got home and then decided that I would go to the gym so quickly changed and had a great session there and as always I felt so much better for doing it.
Right off now to give Jude a quick call before she heads to bed.... gotta do my daily check on her! :)
Catch ya all later.

Quick update
Hi all
Well its just gone 9pm and I am tired so will make this a quickie...
Foodwise today it has been great, water not the best but still about 1 3/4 litres drunk so am ok with that I guess. Exercise - didn't make it to the gym - physically my body just didn't want to go... but have just done a 35min walk instead so that is some exercise which as we all know is better than none at all.
Work today was pretty full on - had my one on one with our big manager and combined that with my exit interview so that was pretty interesting.... and yes only 4 more days to go! Gonna be an interesting and full on four days but I will get there!
Jude came home from the hospital today and her parents are with her for the week which is great and makes things easier for all her friends knowing that there is someone in the house with her at all times. I popped up to see her after work and to drop off her washing which I took home with me after our quick visit to her yesterday afternoon. She was definitely looking better - still a bit yellow which is to be expected when the liver is not funtioning properly but apart from that she was ok.
I have a funny pain in my tum tonight - not sure if it is from something I have eaten or if it is just a bit of the stitch since I did my walk (pretty briskly) after tea... and not quite the 1hr that you should wait either but will see how I am in the morning.
Right I am out of here... catch ya all tomorrow some time.

Sunday morning
Hi all
I thought I would do a quickish update before heading out the door to have lunch with our friends Lynaire and Kev. We haven't seen them for what seems like ages so it will be good to catch up with them :)
Things are not looking good with Jude - she has been admitted to the Cancer ward at Wgtn Hospital. They have decided that the liver is a lot more important now rather than operating on the bowel so yesterday she was supposed to have had her first Chemo treatment but due to a number of issues it never happened but I did get a txt from her son this morning to say that she had just started her first session about 9.10am and that he would keep me posted on how she is doing once it finishes (approx 2hrs). Then all going well she will be at home tomorrow and then start a two week course of pills, then one week off the pills, then in for a day session with the drip, then the cycle with the pills etc just keeps on going till the Drs are satisified that the tumours have shrunk sufficiently. There is an 80% chance of them being able to shrink the tumours and as a friend said to me this morning - they wouldn't be doing the chemo etc if they thought there wasn't any chance of it working!
Friday was a write off really - spending the day worrying about Jude as we did not hear anything until after 6pm but by this stage there were about 3 of us getting very worried about her. Once we heard from her son, I went and picked up Marianne and we both went into town to spend an hour or so with Jude and her son. Got home about 10ish and just collapsed in bed!
Saturday - I really wanted to go to the gym mentally but emotionally and physically my body just couldn't do it so I stayed in bed till 9am and then had my appt at the podiarist to get my corn cut out etc... home and mucked around and did house work etc. We did the groceries, had lunch and then I went to visit my friend Sharlene - it was great to catch up with her as it had been some time since I had seen her as well! After leaving Sharlenes, I did a quick trip into town to visit Jude and then home to go out for a light meal with Steph (belated wedding anniversary dinner), then we popped into his parents to have a glass of wine and a chat with them for an hour or so.
This morning, I was going to have an exercise free day as well (I really think 3 days in a row at the gym exhausted my body especially with all the emotional stress that I am going through as well) but about 8am I got up, threw on my trackies etc and thought I would just do a light walk which would be better than nothing but once I got out there I ended up doing my 5 kms in 43 mins! :) Showered, breakfast, cleaned charlies cage out, did a load of washing, then we went and checked out a place in Silverstream and it looks quite nice from the outside so just waiting to hear back from them as to when we can look inside.
Right I had better get moving as it is almost time we were out of here.... we might go and visit Jude after lunch depending on what and when we hear from her son.
Oh I really thought I may have been pregnant this month but after my longest ever cycle (38 days) TOM arrived yesterday morning which has not helped me feel the best!
Right gotta go - catch ya all later.

Shortie...
Hi ya
Sorry for the lack of update last night... but yes I did the inevitiable and went to the gym which made it 3 nights in a row there! Robyn almost fell off her chair when she saw me walk in! :) So had a great work out there, home, showered, gobbled down tea, then out the door to Helena's tupperware party! :) And yes I bought one more piece of tupperware.... the grater :) I have contemplated the grater for sometime but always found something that I either want or need more! LOL But in all honesty I think I am all tuppewared out at the moment and definitely am financially! LOL Home, quick chat to Jude and bed!
Up this morning, and got so angry when I saw the scales had shot back up to the weight I was last Thursday after going down, down, down all bloody week! I just burst in to tears, gave them a kick and jumped in the shower.... so that has been on my mind all day and put me in a very procrastinating mood! But surprisingly enough I did manage to record an offical loss of a measly 200gms so Jo and I are sulking together this week! After all our exercise we have both done - we both only loose 200gms! But we all know that a loss is better than a gain and if we keep at it this week too next week will show our hard work!
I really did struggle today not to do emotional eating due to the following bits of news:
* Found out a friend of mine has lost her baby due to a miscarriage at 10weeks (first baby)
* Found out that a friend of mine daughter is pregnant (2nd child)
* Jude got bad news from the hospital... basically to cut a long story short her liver is not functioning properly which has caused her to get jaundice and also her blood is not clotting therefore her op has been postponed until further notice! As they can not operate on her with the jaundice there and also with blood not clotting.... so after all that she has to go to Wgtn hospital tomorrow (rather than Hutt hospital) for a appt with the surgeon there and hopefully get on some strong medication to help the liver and to stop the vomitting and to assist the jaundice!
So yes with all that happening today it has been pretty full on - had a wee crying session in the toilets at work but all I wanted to do was lay down on the floor and throw a 2 year paddy!!!! LOL
I also had my final Reiki session after weigh in - boy I certainly went into a different "world" this time - really freaky but I felt so good. I know I promised a journal update with info on Reiki this week - I am so sorry but with all my gym sessions etc I have just not had the energy to do one but I promise I have not forgotten and will do one real soon!
Right I am outta here as I am totally and utterly shattered otherwise I would be up at Jude's keeping her company but don't feel up to driving tonight.... so will give her a call shortly and then collapse I think!
Catch ya all over the weekend some time!
PS Someone asked in my comments what pineapple lumps are... basically they are chocolate covered pineapple!!! Delicious and very tasty! They have recently been released as giant ones which are even nicer (or I think so anyway)!

Twice in a row...
Hi everyone
Well today has been a fantastic day overall!
Work wise - busy but was Denise's last day until next Tuesday as she is off up the Island for her daughters wedding this weekend. So it will be nice to have a few days to myself but boy I do have a lot to get through in that time.
Foodwise - brilliant except 2 giant pineapple lumps :( Was really disappointed in myself after eating them - just wish I had that feeling before I had them! Water - approx another 2.5 litres today so my water intake overall is definitely increasing! Exercise - would you believe it... I went to the gym!!! Normally Tuesday is a walking day for me but when I got home last night from the gym I said to Steph "I feel like going again tomorrow" but we thought I would wait and see how I was feeling this morning.... woke this morning still saying the same thing so packed my gym bag and threw it in the boot and would wait to see how I was feeling this afternoon.... well got off the train and went straight to the gym and loved it all! I really do enjoy working up a good sweat at times! :) And all going well I will be back there tomorrow night - gees I haven't done 3 days in a row before but there is always the first time for everything!
Only one downer at the moment and that is the pain I have in the heel of my foot! It started getting sore this afternoon and I noticed it quite a bit whilst on the cross trainer and on the treadmill at the gym but boy since I have been home and showered etc the pain is quite bad when I am walking. Hopefully it will just go away but I think I may wear my sneakers tomorrow rather than my boots or sandals just so I have support and comfort. Am seeing the podiarist on Saturday morning anyway for my 4mthly checkup and to get my corn removed so might check with her should I still have the pain then. Obviously if the pain is too bad then I won't get back to the gym tomorrow but I certainly am going to try to get there!
Right time for me to get moving as I want to see the last part of "Downsize Me". Catch ya all tomorrow.
